Armstrong No-hits Mount Carmel in 15-0 BCA rout

Junior hurler Bradley Armstrong continued his dominance over district foes last night with a five inning, complete game, no-hit shutout over the Mount Carmel Rebels. Striking out six batters and walking four, Armstrong challenged the opposing lineup with a dominant fastball and slider combination for his first varsity no-hitter to improve the BCA record to 17 wins and 9 losses.

The offense was awakened from its recent slumber and produced 15 runs on 11 hits in five innings before the game was called by mercy rule. Junior Tyler Haste, making his first career start , led the assault with two hits and five runs batted in. Haste laced two balls into the outfield for run-scoring singles and smashed another ball deep into left field for a sacrifice fly. Joining Haste to help lead the onslaught were the slugging Wilson brothers, Austin and Tyler. Austin crushed a pitch 430 feet to center field with the bases loaded and Tyler hit two doubles. Both Wilsons walked twice and collected four runs batted in.

Cameron Johnson had another outstanding performance, reaching base and scoring each turn up to bat. With three singles and a walk, Johnson's four runs scored ran his team-leading total to 38 in 26 games. Shortstop also Jake Garcia continued his hot streak, refusing to make an out as he hit a double, a single, and drew a base on balls in his three trips to the plate to score three runs. Wes Winn also clubbed a single in the contest to run the final base hit tally to 11 for the Bulldogs, while Tyler Beasley walked three times on the night to run his team-leading total to 23 bases on balls.

The game, originally planned for Memorial Park, was played at Ingrando Park, a lively city park that provided a unique playing environment for our boys. The start of the game was delayed over an hour and a half as the two teams had to travel between the two venues after some confusion due to the availability of the field at Memorial Park. The Bulldogs close out the regular season schedule with three home games the rest of the way. Next up will be former district rival Pasadena First Baptist on Monday at 4 PM.
