Today the Bulldogs took the field on a cool and sunny afternoon and, despite a slow start, came out with a scrappy 7-3 BCA victory. Lead-off hitter Tyler Wilson led the BCA charge at the plate, reaching base each time up as the boys battled back from an early 3-0 deficit. Bradley Armstrong pitched four lights-out innings in relief for the win and the Bulldogs were able to get some clutch hitting late in the game from Cameron Johnson, Ryan Bertram, and Austin Wilson. It was a nice win that provided plenty of lessons for the team to learn from as we try to improve each game on our march towards a state championship.
Earlier in the day, the Bulldog junior varsity came out fired up and defeated their opponents 8-0 behind four masterful innings from freshman sensation Cameron Gregory. Gregory notched five strikeouts in his four innings and did not allow a hard-hit ball all afternoon. Sophomore Grant Harber recorded the final six outs, with four coming via strikeouts. The offensive attack was bolstered by three young varsity players getting some extra at-bats early in the season. Clay Wiseman, Cameron Johnson, and Brandon Horne each scored two runs, with Wiseman leading the way with three hits and three runs batted in. The Bulldog offensive explosion tallied 10 hits in five innings, including three each in the first, second, and fourth. The young lads played excited baseball and overwhelmed their opponents in every phase of the game.
Tomorrow we travel south to take on Brazosport Christian in what promises to be a great test for our team and we hope to see you there!
