Senior Day = Good times for all

When our opponent for the home finale forfeited we were faced with the prospect of not having a senior day to honor the two seniors in our program. To remedy this situation, Coach Johnson decided to have a fun-spirited, but competitive exhibition game between the coaching staff and the boys on the team. After some solid recruiting, we had a lineup that included all four coaches, last year's assistant coach, the fall baseball team coach, one player's father, and a couple of faculty members. Yesterday at 4 PM we took to the field and the varsity team came away with a 5-2 victory due to some well-placed hitting and some suspect defense by the veterans. Despite a dominant performance by pitching coach Drew Jeffcoat, the coaches were unable to score enough runs to subdue the young and feisty Bulldogs. Good times were had by all involved and it was a light-hearted, but genuine, day for celebrating seniors Austin Wilson and Michael Tristan.

Austin "Bobo" Wilson is one of the most outstanding performers on the squad. He is hitting well over .400 with 5 homeruns and nearly 40 RBI this season and has a 5-1 record on the mound while leading the pitching staff in ERA with a minuscule 1.50 mark. He has batted cleanup for nearly the entire season and his leadership is one of the major factors leading us to our 20-9 record that has us poised to make a run for the state title this weekend. Bobo is beloved by his teammates and will be missed next season and he is a joy to coach.

Michael Tristan is the team's manager and he has worked hard all season as our one-man support staff. From filling water coolers, to running the scoreboard, to filming video of hitters and pitchers, Michael has done all we have asked and has been a faithful member of the program. He is the epitome of what a high school team manager should be, and we were happy to honor him yesterday as a part of our team.

Time is counting down, as we head to San Antonio tomorrow to fulfill our quest - to win the TCAL state championship!
